To open a Beacon Money account, you’ll need to submit a few documents as part of the KYC process:
For Canadian citizens or permanent residents:
- Identity verification (e.g. Canadian passport or Canadian driving license)
- Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
For others:
- Identity verification (e.g. passport)
- Canadian visa status (stamped immigrant visa, or work visa, or student visa.)
- Tax reporting information from your country of citizenship, if applicable.

All customer funds are securely held with a Schedule 1 bank in Canada, ensuring the highest standards of safety and trust. Beacon is compliant with FINTRAC, Canada’s government regulatory body.
You can request a physical Beacon Money card within the Beacon app. Your card will be delivered to your Canadian address within 7-10 business days. If you haven’t received it after 10 days, please contact support via in-app chat or email.
Yes, you can! Just click the copy icon next to the card number on your virtual card, then manually enter the details – card number, CVV, and expiry date into your Apple, Samsung, or Google Wallet. After that, you can use your virtual card for future transactions.
You can withdraw money from your Beacon Money account at any Visa-enabled ATM worldwide. While Beacon doesn’t charge withdrawal fees, the ATM provider may apply a fee, which can vary depending on the bank/ATM provider. Be sure to check these charges before completing your transaction.
